Slow-cooker Chicken



  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 3-4 lb whole chicken
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup water or chicken broth or cooking wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon teaspoon dried basil


  1. Put carrots, onion and celery in bottom of slow cooker. Place whole chicken on top of vegetables. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper and add liquid over top. Sprinkle basil over top. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours (or on high 4 to 5 hours, using an additional cup of water), or until fully cooked.
