Our friend Michael Madigan opened Bowery Bagels in 2012 with one simple goal: to bring authentic New York–style bagels to the Pacific Northwest. More than a decade later, that mission is still at the heart of everything they do.
Today, Bowery supplies bagels, breads, rolls, and pizza dough across Portland with an unwavering dedication to quality and consistency. From every hand-rolled bagel to oven-ready pizza dough, Bowery uses simple, locally sourced ingredients.

So what makes Bowery Bagels such a customer favorite? Michael explains: “There are several unique things about Bowery that set us apart. One is our original bagel recipe, which is almost ridiculously old-fashioned. It takes us three days to make a bagel! Our recipe is descended directly from the bagels that were introduced to America over 125 years ago. We never use preservatives, stabilizers, coloring, or other additives. We bring that same philosophy to everything we make: authentic, tasty, and clean ingredients.”
