At New Seasons, we focus on building and nourishing the communities we serve; from the neighborhood we’re a part of to the global food community.
Leading up to Thanksgiving, we’re hosting our 5 Days of Kindness, giving you the option to add a contribution in any amount which goes directly to helping feed people in our communities.
Between Nov. 18-22, your contribution will go to a local nonprofit, which helps ensure people in our community don’t experience hunger.
Portland and Vancouver region: Meals on Wheels People
Seatte region: City of Mercer Island Youth & Family Services
Sunnyvale: Our Daily Bread
Evergreen: Evergreen Community Center Senior Program
Each of our stores has a Community Coordinator connecting with customers and the broader community through customer service, engagement, and philanthropy. Community Coordinators respond to customer questions, attend neighborhood meetings and events, and manage a donations budget for their specific store.
When you bring a reusable bag to New Seasons, you can donate your 5 cent refund to one of three non-profits in the neighborhood! All of our non-profits focus on one of three areas—ending hunger, supporting K-12 schools or protecting our environment. Learn more>>
We also honor our staff’s commitment to doing more in their community. Each year, we give each of our staff up to 8 hours of paid time off to participate in community service, contributing to the work local nonprofits are doing.
A few examples of the work our staff has done in 2017:
• Repaired the Pacific Crest Trail
• Cooked a meal for homeless youth at HomePlate Youth Services
• Filled and delivered Backpacks for Schoolhouse Supplies
• Planted trees along the Tualatin River with Friends of Trees
• Preparing and serving lunch and ice cream with Food Lifeline
• Pulled ivy and other invasive plants in Forest Park
When you donate your refundable cans and bottles at New Seasons, 100% goes directly to your neighborhood schools foundation. Last year alone our Cans for Kids program raised over $66,659.65 from our customers, staff and community. Learn more>>
