Hometown Flavor: Sugarpine Drive-In

From a catering business to one of Oregon’s most iconic drive-ins, Sugarpine has become a destination for deliciousness—serving up nostalgic American comfort food with a seasonal spin.

Sugarpine Drive-In owners Emily Cafazzo and Ryan Domingo

Housed in a restored 1920s gas station situated on the banks of the Sandy River—along Oregon's Historic Columbia River Highway—Sugarpine Drive-In is part roadside throwback, part modern farm-to-table gem.

Chefs Emily Cafazzo and Ryan Domingo moved to the Gorge in 2015 and saw an opportunity to bring local, seasonal food to a community with limited options.

Sugarpine opened in 2018 as a catering company that also served soft-serve. Seven years later, Sugarpine Drive-In is a beloved destination for locals and travelers alike, known for its evolving menu of seasonal fare: salads, sandwiches, sides, soft-serve, and plenty of plant-based options—all rooted in the bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

Sugarpine Drive-In Sweet Smoke BBQ sauce and Northwest Wonder Rub

As caterers, Emily and Ryan were regulars at New Seasons, stopping in weekly to stock up on seasonal produce and pantry staples. So when they decided to bring Sugarpine flavors to a retail line, connecting with our Local Finds Manager, Lori Hunter, was a natural next step.

Now, you can bring a little Sugarpine magic home. Their seasonal Roasted Strawberry, Miso Caramel, Blueberry Lavender, and Honey Hot Fudge sundae sauces—capture all the nostalgic joy of a summertime treat. And for the BBQ lovers, there’s Northwest Wonder Rub and Sweet Smoked BBQ Sauce, made with local ingredients and inspired by the bold, smoky flavors that make Pacific Northwest BBQ uniquely delicious.
