Meet the family of farmers and piemakers behind some of New Seasons Market’s most beloved local pies.
Our friends at Blue Raeven Farms will tell you that the best fruit makes the best pies, and from our experience (eating their pies), we agree.
This fourth-generation family farm in Amity, OR, has been growing fruit in the Willamette Valley since 1987. Their specialties? Blueberries, boysenberries, marionberries, blackberries, tayberries, and strawberries. Then in 2007, things took an even sweeter turn when they took those beautiful Oregon-grown berries and started making pies.
There's no question—their pies are incredible. But just how do they make them so good? We caught up with Jessica Lewis, accounts manager at Blue Raeven Farms and daughter-in-law of founders Ron and Jamie Lewis, to find out what goes into making their pies and what it takes to build a lasting family farming legacy.
NSM: Tell us a little bit about Blue Raeven Farms? How did you get started?
JL: Our story began on our 4th-generation family farm in Amity, where Ron and Jamie Lewis have been growing exceptional fruit in the Willamette Valley since 1987. Following in the footsteps of the generations before them, they've built their legacy on a passion for agriculture, hard work, family, and community.
With rich soil, gentle skies, and plenty of care, we grow the flavorful, juicy, abundant fruit that makes Oregon famous.
NSM: What sets Blue Raeven Farms apart?
JL: It all starts on the farm. We pick local fruit at peak ripeness and use individual quick-freezing techniques to preserve its quality for our pies year-round. From there, our talented team of bakers handcrafts our pies in small batches with the highest level of care. We're one big pie family, and we love what we do!
NSM: What are you most proud of about the work you do?
JL: Stewarding our legacy is a responsibility we cherish. We're proud to offer a true farm-to-fork experience, connecting the fruits of our labor directly to our customers' tables. Equally meaningful is the opportunity to support our dedicated team and work alongside family members who share our passion and values. The dedication, passion, and craftsmanship behind our work carry through to every product we offer. We love watching families and friends enjoy our products and become part of the Blue Raeven story—a legacy we are proud to share.
NSM: How long have you partnered with New Seasons, and what has that relationship been like?
JL: Our relationship with New Seasons began three years ago. What started as a modest opportunity has grown into a valued and meaningful partnership. Through this relationship, New Seasons has helped connect our products with more families, allowing us to share our pies with a growing community of customers. We're deeply grateful for their commitment to supporting local, family-owned businesses, and the communities they serve. A great deal of care, passion, and purpose goes into every New Seasons store, and we're honored to have our products be part of that experience. We're thankful for the partnership and proud to contribute to the shared values that bring quality local products to customers every day.
