Dear New Seasons Customer,
Out of an extreme abundance of caution, New Seasons Market is further expanding the recall previously related to all NSM fresh in-house ground beef, and fresh in-house made ground beef products. This recall now includes ALL RAW and READY-TO-COOK, FRESH AND FROZEN BEEF PRODUCTS sold from NSM meat and seafood departments and Grab & Go cases such as (but not limited to) steaks, roasts, ready-to-cook mixes, kabobs, stew meat, bones, etc. with “Packed On” dates October 19, 2019 to November 15, 2019 and “Sell By” dates starting October 23, 2019, up to and including November 18, 2019.
These products are being voluntarily recalled because presumptive tests show that some beef sold is contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. E. coli O157:H7 can cause diarrheal illness, often with bloody stools. Although most healthy adults can recover completely within a week, some people can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). HUS is most likely to occur in young children, inmmunocompromised, the elderly or other high risk populations. The condition can lead to serious kidney damage and even death.
Customers who have purchased products within these date ranges should not consume them, and are urged to return them to the nearest New Seasons location for a full refund. If you have any questions please contact one of our stores or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This recall is being made with the knowledge of the Oregon Department of Agriculture, the Oregon Health Authority and the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Inspection Service (USDA). New Seasons Market receives raw product from multiple sources, and is working closely with regulatory authorities to help identify the source of the contamination.
