Claudia Knotek – New Seasons Market Community Relations Manager

Favorite meal:
“Eating the traditional food of whatever country I’m
traveling in, alongside the local people.”

Claudia has been helping food-related businesses grow and succeed for over 25 years. She started with Nature’s Fresh Northwest as the director of the cooking school, part of the human resources staff, and as a merchandiser for body care and supplements.

From there, she moved to Portland-based Kitchen Kaboodle before joining us as our Community Relations Manger in 2002.

Her job here is unique – as she says, everyone else works hard to make money, and she works hard to give it away. As Community Relations Manager, Claudia develops opportunities for the company to get involved in its neighborhoods, with 10 percent of after-tax profits reserved for supporting nonprofit organizations and schools. The best part about this job, Claudia says, is learning about the hundreds of organizations doing amazing, unique things to support our community.

Claudia has always loved cooking – one of her favorite cooking memories is when she made Cornish game hens for her friends in college, using mint-flavored dental floss to tie them because she didn’t have any twine.

Her work with Nature’s Fresh Northwest, New Seasons Market and other food-related positions has stemmed from her belief that eating fresh products and making conscious environmental decisions about what she’s eating makes food more enjoyable to buy, cook and eat.

In her spare time, Claudia loves to travel with her husband, our Produce Merchandiser Jeff Fairchild and their 15-year-old daughter. (On a side note, she met Jeff at Nature’s after he kept throwing mushrooms at her while she taught her cooking classes).
