After our first walk through, we knew we had our spot. The store needed an upgrade for sure, but one thing caught our eye. Among the 70s décor and above the cash registers was the store motto: "the friendliest store in town". We thought, yep, that just makes sense. Along with the idea of being the community’s neighborhood grocery store, the motto stuck. 

On Leap Day, 2000, we opened the doors of our very first grocery store. Some were excited right along with us and others expressed their doubts.

One long-time manager remembers those feelings early on. With six other major supermarkets within a 10 minute drive, it’s safe to say we were not alone. He remembers when he’d watch cars zoom by the store and he’d think “turn in here; we’ve got a really cool store to share.”

Slowly, but surely, the word got out that New Seasons Market wasn’t like the other stores and people began to come in the door.

Years later, they’re still coming. Our Raleigh Hills' Store Manager jokes that when he came to work for the store about a year ago the customers knew more about the company than he did.

“They know their store,” he says.

He also reports seeing his savvy customers around the neighborhood during his Meals-on-Wheels route. Meals-on-Wheels is a fantastic organization that we like a lot. They provide over 850,000 meals a year to Portland area seniors and we are happy to help. Each of our stores has a different delivery route lined up and volunteers get together weekly to bring food and conversation to seniors in our community.

So what does it mean being Raleigh Hills' neighborhood store? It means making adjustments and being flexible to meet the needs of our customers. We know we don’t know everything. That’s why when you have a suggestion about how your store could be better, we listen.

Our Raleigh Hills store has just undergone its fourth facelift.  We've made the Deli bigger and enlarged the seating area. We've enclosed the outside seating area that is there now, increasing the capacity, and creating a more comfortable dining experience. The shopping space has also expanded slightly, providing more area for products and some breathing room.  Come and see our latest changes!
