Concordia - NE 33rd & Killingsworth Street, 503.288.3838 Open daily 8am to 10pm |

Northeast Portland is a neighborhood of tasty barbecue joints sitting next to colorful art galleries and hip boutiques positioned alongside community churches. The food scene here is a mix of multiculturalism, with bustling hotspots dishing up everything from Mexican to Thai to Italian.
Say “Northeast Alberta Street” and many think instantly of the wildly popular “Last Thursday” with young couples and families walking their dogs down the street crowded with musicians and artists selling their handmade crafts.
Not far from Alberta Street is the busy intersection of NE Killingsworth and 33rd Avenue. A little grocery store named Sentry Market was here for years, then shut down in the 1990s, leaving the area relatively grocery store free. Years later, we enthusiastically opened our doors to the community and they opened their doors to us.
Walk past our wooden crates full of fresh local produce and into the hustle and bustle of our fourth store.
It’s hard to deny the energy that this store possesses. The Deli is always hopping – sautés flying inside of hot woks, local greens being tossed with artisan cheeses and toasted nuts for salads, steam heating frothy milk for a latte at our espresso bar.
If you’re looking to the parking lot to gauge how busy the store is, you might be in for a surprise. We think the well-used bike racks speak for themselves. The Concordia store has an emphasis on being bike, foot and bus friendly. This sometimes means a busy store with a not so full parking lot. How cool is that?
We think organic baked goods are pretty cool too. That’s why we have a certified organic bakery featuring an assortment of European-style artisan breads baked fresh daily.
Next to the bakery is our meat and seafood counter, offering vegetarian-fed, free range chicken, co-op raised Country Natural Beef and the most environmentally friendly, sustainable seafood.
Winding down each aisle is our blend of organic, traditional, local and imported products.
What about the fresh produce? Yes, we always have an incredible selection of organic fruits, vegetables and fresh bulk fresh herbs on hand.
Not only is our staff well versed in the world of sustainable grocery products, but we’re not too shy to admit that we’ve got quite a team of talented artists working here as well. In true Northeast art fashion, we held our very own New Seasons Staff Art Fair this Spring and had everything from $5 earrings to $1,500 paintings. Did the crummy weather stop the fun? No way. The rain came down that day, but everyone pitched in and helped each other out. It’s our neighborhood’s way.
