BTA Bike Commute Challenge: In 2008, over 250 New Seasons Market staff members biked to work as part of the monthlong Bike Commute Challenge, which promotes use of bicycles to get to work. In the end, our staff accumulated 3,774 trips and 28,549 miles. To learn more, go to bikecommutechallenge.com.
Biodiesel Delivery Vans:
For our Online Shopping delivery program, we fuel our vans with a B20 biodiesel blend in a process that utilizes our own Delis’ used cooking oil. We can prevent up to 240 trips to the grocery store per day and potentially save over 80 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
Zipcar Discounts: New Seasons Market teams with Zipcar (the car sharing program formerly known as FlexCar) to provide parking spaces near most of our stores. We’ve also negotiated an offer for our staff members and customers that provides savings on membership fees and driving credits worth up to $70 per person. To learn about Zipcar discounts, go to zipcar.newseasonsmarket.com.
2008 Low-Car Diet: The Low-Car Diet is an annual event that challenges 30 families to give up the use of their car for 30 days. As a sponsor, we provided unlimited free Online Shopping deliveries to participants to help them reach their goal. |
