If you’re a resident of the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, chances are you’ve hung out at the Alameda Brewhouse a few times. With its amazing handmade beers and fresh local pub fare, it’s a comfortable local hangout for many Northeast Portlanders.
Alameda Brewing has been handcrafting their fine beers since 1997. Each of their delicious beer creations are made in their Fremont Street brewhouse under the watch of head brewer John Eaton.
John has been brewing delicious beer since 1997 and even has a master’s degree in the art. He started his professional brewing days at Lagunitas Brewing Co. in Petaluma, California, and has also spent some brewing time at the San Francisco Brewing Company and Pyramid Brewery in Berkeley, California.
His skill gets put to great use at Alameda Brewing. He’s the man behind some of their most popular ales including their award winning Black Bear XX Stout. That rich, dark, velvety stout is made with rye malts and soft hops. One sip of it and you can taste why this brew took the gold metal in the 2003Great American Beer Festival’s foreign style stout category.
Other popular brews are the Irvington Juniper Porter, made with chocolate, (yes, we said chocolate!) and molasses; and the Klickitat Pale Ale, made with plenty of local Pacific Northwest hops.
If you don’t have the time or desire to make it a night at the pub, then have no fear. We stock Alameda Brewing’s ales by the bottle and by the case – cold and ready for your sipping.
